The Middlefield Volunteer Fire Company will be kicking of a new program directed at our senior population. This program is designed to help with Community Risk Reduction starting with an in home inspection. This inspection works to assist in lowering the number of falls and injuries to our seniors. The inspection is not used to determine if an individual is ok to stay in their home, but is designed to help seniors recognize potential tripping and fire hazards and help them correct it. Inspections are done by scheduled appointments and the results will be discussed with the senior and/or their loved ones, so they have all the information they need on how to make their home safer and prevent potential emergencies in the future.
We will also provide a way to organize emergency medical information in the event it is needed and no one is available to give it to us or if you are alone. We can provide a form and help gather basic medical info that we as emergency responders look for if we respond to your home. This info should be kept up to date and left in an easily accessible location, usually on the refrigerator. Important information such as allergies, current medications, or diagnosed medical conditions help responders to better understand their patients and treat them more appropriately. The form can be updated by the individual or if need be an appointment can be scheduled for one of us to help. This form will NOT include any personal identity information, such as social security or insurance information, but only the essential emergency info to help responders care for you.
